In October 2016, China's exports of benzoic acid-related products reached 6,058 tons, up 8.03% year on year, the sixth consecutive month of year-on-year growth.At the same time, however, it dropped by 8.17% month-on-month, and exports have declined for four consecutive months.In October, FOB/ton exports stood at $1,568, essentially unchanged from the previous month, and up 16.35 percent year on year.From January to October, exports totaled 43,496 tons, up 13.79% year on year.Among them, 4,873 tons, 3,248 tons, 2,449 tons and 2,362 tons were exported to the United States, Indonesia, India and the Netherlands, accounting for 11.2%, 7.47%, 5.63% and 5.43%, respectively.

Benzoic acid has antibacterial, anti-fungal properties and has been used as a preservative since 1900.Its use is very wide, in addition to food, also used in cosmetics, toothpaste and so on.In fact, some fruits such as apples and plums also contain natural benzoic acid.It has FDA "recognized safety" status, but is used in foods at concentrations not exceeding 0.1 percent.In recent years, research has shown that benzoic acid is associated with a number of health problems.

Children who eat foods containing benzoic acid or chemical pigments may be hyperactive.

2. Drinks containing benzoic acid, catalyzed by metal (canned drinks) and with a little heat (in transit), have the opportunity to release carcinogenic benzene.
